A Habitat for the Last Blackbird in New York

This is a project focuses on myth as an architectural generator. We researched the blackbird as a literal bird and its significance in the myths and omens. Particularly, the poem “Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird” by Wallace Stevens served as a jumping point for the work. The site is a parking lot by Chelsea Piers in New York. High Line Park runs across the front of the site and will be structurally unaltered.
